US Womens July National Team Camp!




HUNTSVILLE, Texas, July 4, 2013 – The U.S. Women's National Team and coaches celebrated the Fourth of July by wrapping up its July training camp at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training Site. Held from June 30-July 4, 26 gymnasts and their coaches participated in the five-day training camp. Among the participants were 2012 Olympic team gold-medalists McKayla Maroney of Long Beach, Calif., and Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif.
Women's National Team Coordinator Martha Karolyi, said, "The gymnastics displayed at this camp was very promising as we prepare for the upcoming World Championships. We are happy to have two Olympians back training and to have so many talented juniors training side by side with our impressive senior gymnasts."
Karolyi also added Laurie Hernandez of Old Bridge, N.J./MG Elite, to the U.S. Women's Junior National Team. The U.S. Women's National Team for 2013-14 will be determined at the 2013 P&G Gymnastics Championships, Aug. 15-18, in Hartford, Conn.
Each national team camp starts with physical abilities testing. During the next two days, gymnasts undergo through verification on each event under the watchful eye of the Athlete Selection Committee.
